Feed Your Worms Well

NO meat, bones, citrus, onion or oil  No yard waste that has been treated with pesticides or herbacides

Also - read about bedding because that is food too.

Red Wigglers (composting worms) like a balanced enviroment, not acidic or alkaline, and more browns than greens. The smaller the pieces that faster the worms will compost them.

 Browns (Carbon)

  • Cardboard (not waxy or colored)
  • Paper (not glossy)
  • Dead leaves
  • Coconut Coir (environmentally iffy)
  • Peat (slightly acidic and envir-iffy too)
  • Wood chips/twigs
  • Straw
  • Newspaper (no color)
  • Natural fabric (cotton, linen, hemp, wool)

Greens (Nitrogen)

  • Food scraps
  • Grass clippings
  • Pulled weeds
  • Coffee and tea grounds
  • Plant trimmings
  • Eggshells
  • Seaweed
